Hoodoo is a uniquely American magical practice. Originating with the African slaves, it combines magical traditions of Africa, Native American, and European magic. Often it is confused with Voodoo ~ which it is not.  Hoodoo is a system of magic and Voodoo is a religion.  You can be a follower of any religion (or none at all) and still practice hoodoo.

Hoodoo, like all magical systems, involves a unique way of manifesting your desires into the world.  It helps you get what you want done in life.  It is a form of prayer, a form of will, a form of action. What I mostly practice is a lot of hoodoo-style candle magic.  When choosing a candle color, an oil, an herb, I usually follow the hoodoo color and herb associations rather than the Wiccan ones.
